The WETFLAG for iPad app gives the health care provider direct access to the important factors in cardiopulmonary resuscitation of children.

WETFLAG is an acronym for:
Weight,
Energy,
Tube,
Fluid,
Lorazepam
Adrenaline and
Glucose.

In this app Diazepam dose and Laryngeal Mask Airway size is also included.

When tending to a critically ill child in the ER, the ICU or on the ward the clinician using this app will have access to the accurate dose of Adrenaline/Epinephrine, Lorazepam, Diazepam, Crystalloid Fluid Bolus, Glucose/Dextrose Bolus, Electric Chock Energy, size of Endotracheal Tube and Laryngeal Mask Airway. And this only by typing in the weight of the child or estimating the values by typing in age.

WETFLAG for iPad is based on the Advanced Pediatric Life Support WETFLAG-mnemonic, and uses the weight based doses that are taught in APLS-courses.
Weight however is not calculated based on age, but more accurately derived from growth carts.

Energy for defibrillation is calculated as 4 joule/kg.

Fluid Bolus dose is calculated as 10 and 20 ml/kg.

Lorazepam dose is calculated as 0.1 mg/kg with a max dose of 4 mg. Lorazepam dose is calculated in both 2 mg/ml and 4 mg/ml dilutes, one of these can be deleted by swiping your finger rightwards.

Diazepam dose is calculated as 0.2 mg/kg with a max dose of 10 mg.

Adrenaline/Epinephrine dose is calculated as 0.01 mg/kg.

Glucose/Dextrose dose is calculated as 5 ml/kg of 10% solution.

WETFLAG for iPad gives the appropriate size for Laryngeal Mask Airway.

Endotracheal Tube size and top to nose/lips -distance is derived from the typical weight of each age, and not calculated by age as taught in APLS-courses. Consider this when treating obese and underweight children. See below.

The suggestions are based on the fixed settings of most modern non-automatic biphasic defibrillators. The calculated value 4 J/kg is rounded up to the nearest above fixed value.

The inner diameter of Endotracheal tube is calculated as follows: 3 - 8.5 kg =>3.5 mm non-cuffed, 8.5 - 11 kg => 4 mm non-cuffed, 11 - 18 kg 4 mm cuffed, 18 - 24 kg 4.5 mm cuffed, 24 - 28 kg => 5 mm cuffed, 28 - 34 5.5 mm cuffed, 34 - 46 kg 6 mm cuffed, 46 - 50 kg 6.5 mm cuffed, 50 - 58 kg 6.5-7 mm cuffed, 58 - 60 kg 6.5-7.5 mm cuffed.

The Laryngeal Mask Airway size is based on the weight recommendations of the manufacturer.
3 - 5 kg => size 1.0, 5 - 11 kg => size 1.5, 11 - 25 kg => size 2.0, 25 - 32 kg => size 2.5, 32 – 55 kg => size 3.0, 55 – 60 kg => size 4.0.
